Rangitata: Chasing Sheep

I promise my two week break is coming to an end – actually I have been back for 4 days and have already planned a mini trip for tomorrow evening and Saturday! Okay now back to the end of my trip …

It was a really rainy day Thursday  - not fun because we missed all the beautiful mountains on our drive out of the national park but I can’t chance mother nature J

view from Mt. Cook when we woke up

We headed out of the park and stoped at another glacial lake – Lake Takapo. This lake is amazing!! Beautiful scenery and the bluest water. After a quick outside photo stop we headed to the hot pools. They are huge hot tubs outside and it is sooo popular in NZ. Us girls didn’t really feel like getting any more wet so we sat in the cafĂ© and had some yummy hot coco/coffee and I had a tomato soup which was deeelicious! Brittany states it perfectly in her blog our “spirits began to brighten as I warmed up and dried off.”

Then we headed to Rangitata – the rafting capitol of New Zealand. Just our luck that the rafting season ended 1 day beforehand – so we didn’t really have much to do. The whole bus stayed in this really nice lodge (we were the only ones there). The rooms were kind of cool because there were three tiered bunks!! I slept on the bottom so if it would break I of course would have died first J (I didn’t die).

This lodge was on a really big farm with cattle and sheep so me, being in NZ, wanted to find the sheep and hug them. Off Brittany and I went to go find some sheep to hug in the rain! As we moved closer to the sheep (BAHHH-ing really loudly) they ran away L. No sheep hugging for me (for today that is).

*no pictures but really funny video of us - sorry

What was left of the afternoon was spent relaxing and findng a hostel for the next two nights in Christchurch. Tonight was the last night of our bus trip – they would  drop us off in Christchurch in the morning (Friday) and we had until Sunday morning to find stuff to do.

Our driver (Swede)  made all of us dinner – he made salad, garlic bread, and really good lasagna with fresh vegetables in it as well. It was really good – not as good as my moms but it came pretty close!

Our original bus group got together and we all played card games, chatted, and played spoons. It was really a lot of fun – we stayed in the same hostel in Christchurch with them as well.

spoons!

Alright one more post until I am done telling you about my holiday! I will share Christchurch with you soon J

26 days till Jeff comes!!
48 days till America!!
